Day 12 Stay Sharp

I get asked a lot where I find the stuff I use for my classroom and I always answer Google.  And I don't think they believe me. But I really do.  There is a wealth of information out there if you are patient and selective and you are truly interested in finding it.  I will be honest and say that my second degree was as a media specialist (aka a librarian) back in the day when that was such a thing.  So I took many classes on research and perhaps my patience is a little more honed.  I do have tons of bookmarks that I go through over the summer to refresh my memory and an external hard drive with all sorts of stuff saved because you just never know when you might be able to use something...I'm the pack rat of teachers I'm sure!

So for today's activity I signed up for a couple of things I have wanted to for a while but just haven't got around to doing.  The first is an email newsletter that I have come across numerous times.  I also liked their page on Facebook although sometimes stuff gets lost there which is why I also subscribed in email so I won't miss it.  It is called Middleweb and is a mailing just for middle school teachers.  They have something for every kind of teacher and I am looking forward to seeing what ideas I can get from them.  Their homepage is here in case anyone else wants to take a look.

I also have been wanting to check out The Master Teacher blog so I liked them on Facebook and signed up for their blog on my RSS feed so I could read them regularly.  When I was teaching in Texas a long time ago the district used to give us flyers in our mailbox from The Master Teacher and they had such insightful information.  I kept all of them and pull them out every once in a while as a refresher.  You can find their site here.

This was a good kick in the behind to get me to do this finally!  Thank you!
